“Michael John Moorcock (1939), el más polifacético de los escritores ingleses contemporáneos, ha alcanzado la celebridad literaria por dos caminos diferentes, en ambos con efectos revolucionarios. Dirigió la revista ''New Worlds'''''Texto en negrita''' desde el número 142 (mayo/junio 1964) hasta el 201 (marzo 1971), gestando desde sus páginas el movimiento literario que se conoció como New Wave, el más influyente que puede recordar la ciencia ficción moderna. Como autor, con una obra prolífica en los campos de la ciencia ficción y la fantasía, ha llegado a convertirse en una de las firmas más populares del mundo por su creación del multiverso, escenario en el que discurren numerosos ciclos de novelas, entre las que existen constantes referencias cruzadas, que les confieren una complejidad global extraordinaria, sólo comparable, dentro de la narrativa fantástica, al gran ciclo de H. Rider Haggard.
